Skiing in Arlberg in Austria, where skiing is the national sport, in the most famous ski area, is an unmissable experience. Arlberg has always been the top in the skiing world, and here, the first ski competition in the Alps and the first ski lift in Austria, took place. It is no coincidence that the Arlberg ski club is one of the largest and most successful in the world. The ski area is very large and is located between the Tyrol and Vorarlberg regions and offers:
But the thing that makes it fascinating is the abundance of snowfall during the winter, an average of 9 meters of snow per year! The area is strongly oriented to freeride thanks to the abundance of fresh snow. For the more experienced skiers there will be a wide choice of deep snow descents. There are terrains suitable for beginners who want to learn off-slopes techniques, but also long steep descents for the more daring. Valluga, for example, is a peak, reached by a small cable car, which can only be descended if accompanied by a guide and if you do not suffer from vertigo … Skiing in Arlberg will allow you to try your hand at ski mountaineering. With the help of lifts and short climbs on foot or with skins, you can make tours in enchanting places and away from the crowds. Obviously for the more sporty there is no lack of terrain for long ascents to more remote and wild peaks.
